ANTI-NUCLEAR WINTER--AREA REVERTS TO 1875

OK, lets lay out the two alternatives.

1)

If you think some damage has been done by Con Edison's nuclear plant having sat on the Hudson for 50 years or more, maybe you really CARE about the river, and about the environment, and about the peoples' lives that will have to be lived here, regardless. So you say to the current, environmentally aware operator,Entergy..... "Go ahead, clean up Con Ed's mess. Remediate the old spills, use your billion dollar clout, and world-class nuclear expertise to IMPROVE our river.--- Do that, and we will strike a deal with you. As you make everything green around here, you can continue to help us in those OTHER ways, too". (charities, grants, cheap electric service, jobs, taxes, and general societal wellbeing).

Or you can choose the other route:

2)

Try to convince the only people who really can fix these problems to move away. Convince Entergy that they are not wanted, or needed. Revert back to Andy Spano's "experts" in Westchester County Government to monitor your tritium, your strontium, your old spent fuel pools, and maybe Andy will handle it as well as he has handled the Grasslands Hospital bankruptcy, or the repair of your local highways, or traffic planning in and around White Plains. You WILL have a big publicity feather in your cap in Green Party circles, but other than that, your neighbors will be SCREWED, BIGTIME. As your neighbor glowers at you for doubling his property tax, and tripling his electric bills, news article after news article will come out in the Journal News saying:"Andy's Nuke Still Leaking" or "More radioactive Fish Found", and who will know how to do anything about it? Susin Tolchin? Pretty soon the official coverup will begin, saying "Spano declares County's Nuke is perfectly safe", and that will be the end of anything ever being done. In the meantime the area decays into a version of Mexico, from the loss of Entergy revenues, and their 1205 high level people moving to Arkansas. One day TJN will have another story saying:"Spano assistant commits suicide- mob ties suspected". This will happen when Ralph Arred gets the nuclear cleanup job, and does a Tony Soprano no-show on it! Meantime local politicians, arguing about just HOW to replace local electricity, will run into delay after delay, lawsuit after lawsuit, and every Tuesday and Thursday will become "Rolling Blackout" day. Here's how THAT works.... on Tuesday White Plains is blacked out for 4 hours, on Thursday, its Peekskill's turn, etc., etc., just like down in Argentina, where nobody ever uses an elevator around 7 AM (when the blackouts begin). In that way, Westchester will achieve conservation--by simply going back to the year 1875 en masse, (like in the picture of Orchard Street above) two days a week, managed by some Spano political hack in Martine Avenue (where they will have backup generators for themselves and Ralph Arred).

So you decide.

Most people HAVE decided.
That's why those signatures are hard to find.
